CapWIN: Harford County Sheriff’s Office Reports SuccessesOur newest Capital Wireless Information Net (CapWIN) agency, Harford County Sheriff’s Office, located in Bel Air, Maryland, was happy to report how much the CapWIN software has helped during two recent incidents.
A few short hours after receiving CapWIN training, Harford County Sheriffs were able to see the first hand benefits of using CapWIN and shared those benefits with another agency. Baltimore County Police currently do not have access to MVA photos through their existing mobile data system but knew that Harford County Sheriffs did with CapWIN. Baltimore Homicide detectives were working a case and needed a photo of a possible suspect; Harford Sheriffs were able to pull up the MVA photo by running a query in CapWIN, and provided the photo to the Baltimore detectives. Baltimore County Police are working towards piloting CapWIN on a few devices in order to obtain MVA photos as well.
The very next day, the Sheriffs Office lost connectivity to their local area network which included their direct connection to MILES. Normally, this would have halted MILES access but thanks to their recent CapWIN connection they were able to continue to query MILES wirelessly via laptops equipped with CapWIN software.
Thanks to the Harford County Sheriff’s Office for sharing their recent successes. We are always happy to hear how CapWIN has helped. Send us your success stories so others can hear too!
